Responsibility for our own health and wellness is more important than ever. By maximizing our well-being to live active productive lives means having a fully-functioning healthy body to sustain us through our youth, adulthood, and retirement age—in fact, way past retirement age. As Latter Day Saints we know this to be true. How many of us actively are working towards eating more healthy? I hope all of us are!
The upcoming Healing and Wellness Expo at Thanksgiving Point can provide you with resources and hands-on experiences, to empower your own healing journey. The Expo features naturopathic practitioners, alternative exercise specialists, and whole-food nutritionists, pioneers in their respective fields, who will come together to teach, encourage, and demonstrate ways to sustain a healthy lifestyle and help you take ownership of your own wellness. A Tai-Chi class, Truly Healthy Food Storage, a whole foods cooking class, yoga, and cleansing are just a few of the activities featured.
Organizer Staci Sadler explained: “Alternative health is growing rapidly in Utah. I used to manage a health food store in Orem and so many people want to have a place to network and learn more about this field. The Expo is a place for people to come research, ask questions, and listen to naturopathic specialists whose goal is to empower each individual with their own health management skills.”
Planned presenters include:
Noell Larsen—An exercise and workout nutrition expert, coming from a long line of fitness experts, was changed her life focus to holistic nutrition after battling illness and a breakdown following the popular exercise/diet trend.
Dr. Whit Roberts—Owner of Health Utah, Dr. Roberts identifies irritations to the autonomic nervous system using the FDA-cleared BAX 3000. He states, “We can recondition the body to act differently to substances (to respond more appropriately) such as fluorescent lighting, molds, and fungus. One of my clients was actually allergic to cold temperatures, he broke out in hives. These reactions are often caused by inflammations in the body that can mask for other diseases. We were able to rebalance his system and he no longer has this allergen. We strive to decrease the body’s burden of infection, toxins, and allergies.”
Todd Cameron, N.D.¬—With a background as an EMT, a degree in nursing from the University of Utah, and experience working mainly in intensive care, Dr. Cameron changed directions and became a clinically trained primary care physician. He treats everyday illnesses such as colds and flu, but also chronic illness, hormone imbalances, and chronic fatigue. “Naturopathic medicine is growing because of a simple fact: a naturopath has to know what an M.D. does… and then some. A lot of my patients come to me after years of frustration with conventional medicine. I have the greatest respect for medical practitioners, but oftentimes drugs aren’t the answer to help restore the body to wellness.”
Enter the alternative health realm and watch a healing path “spring” beneath your feet, stone by stone, brick by brick. Expo guest speakers are pavers of such pathways… they have created a nurturing and empowering healing environment for all of us.
