Brother Michael McClean, A Good Example

by Molly on March 7, 2010

Brother McClean, yes the composer & singer we all know and love…is in my ward. I love his way of thinking and how he helps so many others around him to understand gospel principles through his engaging comments and thoughts. Today as we sat in Fast & Testimony meeting, we had a sister who got up and shared how she wanted to climb the ladder of knowledge and faith to be at the rung she assumed we were all at. yet, in her bearing of her testimony, whether she realized it or not, she was right there. Her thoughts and feelings are the same as many of ours, that somehow those around us are more knowledgeable and righteous than we are. Yet, we are all still learning, none of us are perfect.

Brother McClean stood up after her, and shared some of the most simple yet amazing things with us and how none of us are reaching down to her or her up to us, but how we are all learning and growing in the gospel. I wish I could have memorized what he said so I could share it here, but, if you think of the Forgotten Carols and how, besides the amazing stories, how they are teaching us…they literally are teaching moments. No one of us is better, we are all here to learn together. It just really made me think of the Forgotten Carols and how I have felt after listening to them.

I failing at sharing how powerful Fast & Testimony meeting was, but, it was a teaching moment, and it was so good to hear someone that many of us think of as so brilliant say that he is still learning. I would have you ponder similar thoughts and feelings as you finish out the Sabbath Day.
