Until recently, I have sworn to not ever purchase canned or jar gravy. Why? Because I grew up with my dad making it from scratch. A little water, meat drippings, and flour. After getting married, I did begin purchasing beef gravy mix. McCormick has the best and only that I will purchase.
Ok, on to canned gravy…I was shopping at Albertson’s which I don’t normally do, because the closest one to me is 25 minutes away. I typically shop at Smiths because I save money, and they have the brands that I want.
It was just before Thanksgiving, and I had stopped at Albertson’s to get a drink and some treats before heading back home, and once I got in there, I noticed some of the great deals they had going on. They had Campbell’s Gravy on sale for $1. Being so close to Thanksgiving and not wanting to leave anything to chance, I thought what the heck, I will pick up $10 worth, and we will give it a try.
I have been very hesitant to try them, and the only reason that I did, was because they were Campbells. Its not the same as homemade gravy, but, in a pinch its a great substitute. I don’t recommend any other jar or can of gravy, but, I can say that Campbell’s is good! Mmm Mmm Good!
What does your family use for gravy? Homemade or store bought?
